Fished Timber Lake all day on Thursday 8/4.  Water temps ranged from 90.3 in the morning, to 95.3 in the afternoon.  Air temp was even hotter; I was completely miserable in the afternoon; no wind and no clouds to help out.  Lake is down 2-3 feet from when i was there in early June.

Fishing was very good; I caught 17 before noon.  Took a long lunch, and caught another 9 more from 4-8 in the evening.  however, i did not get a single bite after about 6:30.  Only caught 3 unders, and most were 2.5 to 3.0 pounds, with the biggest one just over 4.5 pounds.  As usual, these bass have a mean disposition, even in the hot water.  every 3 pounder feels like a 5 pounder, especially with all the brush in the water.  i lost 3 fish (one buzzbait and 2 t-rig) that i had hooked up; they broke 20 lb trilene big game, which is not easy to do.  Most of my fish were off the bank in 6-10 feet of water.  my lowrance units showed something in the water below about 11 feet; looked my snow on my sonar and down imaging (fyi, i didn't get anything deeper than 10 feet).  No schooling, and not much of a morning or evening topwater bite.  My best lure was a t-rig black/blue brush hog, and a big shad colored crank bait that dives 10-12 feet.

NOTE:  the 19/154 highway from Sulphur Springs to hwy 71 is a big mess; they blacktopped it recently, but it is extremely rough (like an old washboard).  They have electronic signs warning you about it.

Great report James.   Thank you!

FWIW, I bet the "snow" you were seeing on your graph was the thermocline.   It has set up at about the same depth (10-12')  in almost all of the PWF lakes I have fished this summer.  That's consistent with the depth of the fish you reported as well.

Thanks for confirming that about the thermocline, Murray.  I suspected that, but these Lowrance units are new to me.  My much older Humminbirds would show a broken line in the water column, but these new Lowrance units just show "snow" from the thermocline depth on down.  i took some screen shots but left the sd card in the unit; i keep the boat in dry storage at Lake Fork, so i'll post them next time.  Also, i made sonar recordings of the open area and the east arm, but they are on that same sd card.  so, i'll post a decent topo map when i go back.

FYI, i went to Fork on Friday morning for a few hours.  Water temp was 85 on Fork, compared to 90 on Timber Lake.
