My faithful fishing partner, Mr Dale Ballard and I decided to tackle the heat and see what we could do at 6-0 yesterday. First, after putting the boat in the water and pulling up to the road, the trailer hit a little bump and came off the hitch - wow I am sure glade that didn't happen on the road. So we began fishing the up toward the damn and picked uo a few dinks along the outer glass line on crank baits and pop-r. We had a slight chop on the water which really helped with the heat factor. Moved down to the north end and fished the old tank damn ,throwing spinner baits and swim plastic swim baits. The bite was not furious , but fairly steady. Caught several on the edge of the weed lines with the swim baits and lost four good-good fish that pulled like heck and game off. I finally changed the hook set up and that helped. We ended up culling or cleaning around 35-40 under 14in ,some were even to small to keep. Caught another 5-6 over 14 and missed and lost another dozen or so.Now - the bad- after cleaning some fish I told Dale to move the trailer and I would take the boat to the shore from the dock. Well as I untied the boat from the dock the wind took the boat with me hanging on to the edge of the dock and my feet in the boat. This fat boy hung on as long as possible and I called out for Dale as the boat was floating away me hanging on to the dock. I made my way around to the front of the dock and climbed up the ladder. Well my much slimmer 70 yr old partner said I will get the boat. And he dove in and after much -much effort my hero saved the boat. What a day!!! Another great fishing story two old friends can laugh about for years to come.

John - that is a great story (sounds like something I'd do) and indeed one to be shared for years to come!
