Me, my brother, and my dad all did our trial trip together at the Six O Ranch. I would have to say that the lake won the match, but we had a great time anyway.
The property is beautiful, and as soon as we drove up, we were greeted by 2 of the biggest jack rabbits I've ever seen. We proceeded to drive to the lake. The water clarity was really nice, and weather was beautiful. This was a AM trip.
We started off by loading our trolling motor onto the pontoon boat that was already at the property. As son as we all loaded up and were ready to go, we soon learned that the prop, and nut had fallen off the motor, so we were basically boatless for most of the day. We proceeded to do a little bank fishing, which yielded one bass under the slot, and one over. We were pretty much limited to T-Rig Senkos, and weedless as there was quite a bit of weeds near the bank.
My brother decided to try to get on the smaller fiberglass boat, and do some paddling. I can't recommend this. We got out to the middle of the lake, and drifted with the wind, which meant we were rowing against the wind to get the boat back. Very bad idea!
When we get back to the dock, we caught a lot of bluegill right from the dock, maybe. These were easily the biggest bluegill I've ever seen. about a pound or so on average. This, along with some good quality time away from work with my brother, and old man, made the trip a blast. (We all work together)
On a side note, we met the owners of the property. They were very nice and hospitable. (Kim and Ted if memory serves correct)
