With the rains finally letting up made a quick reservation for Kickapoo.  Water going through overflow pipe.  On the water before 7am and started getting fish on ribbit and pop-r.  As the sun continued to climb so did the wind.  Water was pretty murky in the very backs of of both coves but still produced a few fish.  Overall in main lake visibility was about 18" and the usual dark color.  As day went on fish seemed to move out into 4-5 feet but very tight to the moss.  Tired of fighting wind by noon but harvested 17 and released 4-5 up to 3 pounds.

If anyone going with vehicle with less than good ground clearance, the road as you get to launch area has some pretty bad erosion.

thanks for the report Rodney.  i wish everyone would provide a fishing report; it helps everyone.

how was the weed growth in the lake?  i've never been to Kickapoo, but it's been on my list to try.  The main page talks about all the coontail moss; did you have any problems with weeds?

Moss is near surface and would probably be at surface if lake was normal level and not going through overflow pipe.  I have fished there several time and typically a good lake for numbers with at least a couple in 3+ range thrown in.  What I found on most of the PWF lakes with abundance of moss, the fish hold tight and can be caught in and around the moss.  If you have ever fish the "holes" in hydrilla the same techniques will work as long as the wind does not blow you around like it did Sunday.
