had so much fun at Timber Lake 2 weeks ago, i just had to go back.  i wanted to make sure that my guest, a business associate, had a great day of fishing and catching.

we arrived at 1st light with temps in the 60's and some thick fog (could not see the timber from the launch area).  the water temp was actually cooler (72.2 vs 73.5) than it was 2 weeks ago.  water level was about 6 inches lower, but the lake is still very full.  visibility was a little better this time than last, but still only about 2-3 feet.  it warmed into the mid 80's during the day, with water temps at about 81 during the afternoon.

the fishing was amazing for numbers, and they are still crazy.  we estimate that we caught 50, but isn't it a great day when you lose count.  22 of them found my livewell and will make a nice dinner some day soon.  our largest was 3 lbs 3 oz, and most of the "overs" were in the 14-16 inch range.

we used a variety of lures:  white and chartreuse/orange spinnerbait, whopper plopper, chugbug, frog, and a wacky senko in baby bass color.  my guest had never fished a senko before, so after a little coaching, he was setting the hook and landing fish after fish.  as i said at the beginning, we wanted numbers, so we fishing mostly shallow (less than 6 feet).

the bass there are definitely eating crawfish.  i found 2 large ones in my livewell from the trip 2 weeks ago, and as we pulled the ones out yesterday, we found another one that had been coughed up.   i noticed that there were large schools of small shad  in the lake as well.  the frogs on the banks kept up their sounds most of the day.  all in all, another great trip to a fabulous lake.
