This was our first time fishing as members of PWF. We chose NE Lake because it was semi-close to Dallas and looked like it could easily accommodate a family of 4. The A-Frame was clean, had a cold A/C, and pretty much everything else needed for an enjoyable trip.

When I wasn’t baiting hooks, undoing bird nests, and pulling lines out of trees for my wife and 3yr old girl, I found time to seriously fish by myself from 6:30AM to 8:30AM on Saturday 5/7.

It was sunny, dead still, and about 65 degrees. There is a layer of vegetation almost all the way around the lake that comes out 30-50ft from bank line. The vegetation is about 10” under the water and too thick to fish unless you are using top waters…even then it’s not ideal. I got out into the middle of the lake in the little Jon Boat they have available and fished the edge of that grass line where it connects to the deeper water. I stayed on the side of the lake closest to the dam. I used a 5” Chartreuse Berkley Havoc Grass Pig with no weight the entire time. I caught 6 fish during that span of time ranging from 1.5lbs to 5.5lbs and missed more than I’d care to admit.

Overall it was a great time and we’ll go back.
