I brought a guest to Post Oak Lake on May 1 to introduce him to Private Water Fishing. I didn’t have to do a hard sell job as the bass did it for me. Together we caught 53 bass, 1 crappie, and several bluegill. All were caught on moving baits (spin baits, chatter baits, lipless crank baits, in-line spinners, square-bills, and buzz baits) and we couldn’t get anything on plastics. My guest caught 23 including his new personal best 5.1# which he caught on a lipless crankbait near the little bridge. There was an exciting but short topwater bite as the sun went down and I caught a 6.4# on a buzz bait. My guest experienced his first explosive buzz bait thrill and he is now hooked.
As Bruce previously reported, the lake is back full and the new spillway is running. There is some submerged grass, but not so much that any areas are clogged up.
