Slot Fish
Member Mike Svoboda and I fished Sunday afternoon, April 24th at Timber Lake. We caught 33 with 3 of them being harvest fish. Most were caught on weightless watermelon flukes in shallow water up by the bank and on the secondary edges of the grass on the main lake and at the mouth of the two creeks. Our big fish were one 4 pound and a number of 3 to 3 1/2 pound. Water temp was 74 degrees. The lake level is up, almost to the the top of the trailer by the boat launching area. With the water level up was able to go way back in the creek on the left and saw a very large beaver hut, that was active. Good afternoon, great property.

Interesting about the beavers. I saw a couple my last trip there a month or two ago from a distance and assumed they were nutria.
I had a similar pattern as y’all on the main lake and the mouths of the creeks, but with watermelon senkos. I’ve been trying to learn how to flip a jig and spent a lot of the trip back up in the creeks trying that without any luck.
Finally, I was tent-camping and had the hell scared out of me in the middle of the night by a feral hog rooting around outside my tent. I ran into the landowner on my way out and he was coming in to put traps out for them. If you tent camp, make sure that you leave your food stuffs away from your tent.
