Was a little windy starting out, but calmed down later. Bite on frogs was good thruout the morning, but I couldn't get ah ookset

to save my life! Threw lizards & worms behind misses with some success, mostly lizards. Caught a few on chatterbaits, but

frogs were the hot item all day. I had at least 16 blowups with no hookups. Somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong! Hooks are

sharp, so thats not the problem. Help!!

Joel,

Try waiting to set the hook. Let the fish take it for a second or two before setting the hook. I also like the double hook on Ribbitt and Zoom Frogs BTW, Ribbitt frogs have much better action. if you are using the "scum" style they already have the double hook set up.

Agreed, but man is that tough to do. I still struggle with the discipline not to jerk their lips off when I see a frog blow up. Good luck.

I keep trying to wait until I feel the fish, but even that doesnt help!

I use scum frogs.  They are my favorite top water.  To improve the hook set, I bend the hooks slightly more open/up.  Maybe that would help.  And, as Steve said, let the bass take the lure for a count of 3-5 seconds, then set the hook.
