Fished JJJ from 7-11am on 4/15. Foggy morning with temps in the upper 50s. Fog broke mid-morning with a little sun, then clouds came. Warmed up quickly into the 60s and humid. Winds were light from the ESE. Water temp was 65-67. Seemed like a perfect morning to get bit….....but it wasn't meant to be. Caught 10 bass or so, but all were under 3 lbs. Most on frogs. Tried to find some crappie to get some action, but nothing. Property description says they are in there, but I couldn't fine em. Thick salad everywhere, so weedless baits and patients are a must. Lots of bluegills roaming around, but doesn't seem like very many bass to eat em. Also, some of the biggest, and most plentiful bullfrogs I've ever seen!

Neil,
I have caught plenty of big crappie at Triple J in years past. Over the past several years the lake has been taken over by vegetation. It is hard to imagine but just a few years ago you could toss crank baits at most locations on the lake and never encounter weeds. That is near impossible today. I am not sure if the proliferation of weeds would adversely affect the crappie.
