OK in 14 years of fishing the Six O ranch maybe 50 times I always questioned reports of Crappie being caught. My thinking was folks were getting coppernose blue gills confused with Crappie. Today I am a believer as my partner caught a nice Crappie on a deep diving fire tiger crank bank. It was caught on the middle cove of the 3 coves in the north end. For the day we caught 25 Bass and one Crappie. We took home 7 Bass and one crappie. The balance of the fish caught were from 16 to 21 inches. One nice spawned out female that maybe went 4 or 5 pounds before the spawn. Today there was no pattern on what to use to entice them. So keep on trying things to see if it works. The best area was on both sides of the old dam. I put a weedless prop on my trolling motor but never got it tested. There is so much water in the lake that the weeds are far below the prop. We had a little wind in the afternoon but get one of thse claw clamps and some good parachute cord from army/navy surplus store. Hook up to one of the stick ups. I keep maybe 50' of cord on it. A ton of cedar has been removed from around the lake. This has changed the fishing somewhat as in the past around 4 pm you would get some shadows on the West Bank. Not the case anymore, oh and the water is stained and maybe 3 feet of clarity. Some bass are still on the beds but hard to find them with so much water and turbidity.
