My wife and I spent some great time together this Saturday.  She is not a fisherman so she had fun relaxing and reading and helping me net and count fish and other wildlife.  We got to see a lot of wild flowers lots of waterfowl, too many deer to count and a pack of wild hogs both entering and leaving the property.  It was just a great day to be outside.

I had originally scheduled for us to be at the property both Friday afternoon and Saturday, but work intervened on our Friday plans and we were not able to ge to the lake till about 8:00 on Saturday.  The fishing was great as usual.

The water level draw-down that was used to help put in the new spill way has served to hold back a lot of the grass growth that is usually so prevalent.  The good news is the new spill way is in and the recent rains have filled the lake back to normal levels.  The water color was  good with about 12 -18 inches of visibility.

The fishing was very good.  I fished for 9 hours and was able to catch 129 bass.  Most all of the bass were between 2-5 pounds.  I did catch three that were bigger than 5 with the best being a 6 1/2 pound fish.  The bass were mostly shallow and were not real particular on what they wanted.  The best feature of the day is that of the fish I caught only 4 were 12 inches or less!  That is really quite amazing, It speaks to how well the owner and the club are managing this property.

Bruce, congrats on a excellent outing, great numbers and quality. I have been watching this property myself and am wanting to take my boat there but a little leery of the boat ramp. I was wondering if you could tell me if they have removed the obstruction from the boat ramp that was there a month or so ago. I have a 20 ft fiberglass boat on a tandem axle trailer that i need to make sure i can get in and out of the water before i drag it up there.

Another question is what was the bait of choice, judging by the number I would presume a moving bait like a spinnerbait, chatterbait of crankbait?

Ron, there are two ramps on the lake side by side.  It would seem that one of these should be able to accommodate your boat. the larger of the two ramps is more gently sloping but it is also where they park the small "pondtoon" boat which would need to be moved to use the ramp (the boat is floating under a covered area at the end of the ramp. The other ramp is steeper and it is where I launch my Bass raider.  Both ramps are concrete.

Fish were hitting anything but moving baits were outperforming slower presentations in both size and numbers.
