The day started out cool (40), but warmed into the mid-70's with very little wind and mostly sunny.  The water temp was 62.2 when we launched about 7:30am, and warmed to a high of 73.1 during the afternoon.  My wife and I fished from 7:30 to 6:00, with a 30 minute break for sandwiches at lunch time.  The water was very murky, even though there has not been much rain lately.  I wanted to show my wife how to sight fish, but the water was too dirty to see the fish that i know were there.  The lake is down about 3 feet (how is that possible with all the rain), and the banks are dirt and sand, so maybe the recent high winds have the water so dirty.  There is very little weeds in the lake.  The feeders are still on the banks out of the water.  There have been a lot of new brush piles added (most still have green leaves on them) and tied to almost every stump in the lake.  Because of the low water level, the lake is much smaller than normal.

Fishing was slow.  We ended up with 15 total bass - 7 harvested and 8 returned.  All of the 'overs' were in the 3.5 pound range and very healthy.  They fought like they were bigger, and with all the stumps there were some tremendous battles to get them in.  We caught them on watermelon flukes and a big single blade chartreuse and orange spinnerbait.  Only caught 1 out of the numerous brush piles; the rest were scattered along the banks (although you could not see them).  We tried everything:  topwaters, buzzbaits, small and large spinnerbaits; square bills; chatterbait (or as my wife called it - chatterbox); flukes; texas rig; carolina rig; jig; jerkbait; even a small A-rig.

Overall not a bad day; beautiful weather and we got to spend a lot of quality time together.  I wish she would have caught more than 2, but she did miss several.  The property is beautiful.  The concrete ramp is way too steep.  Launching was not a problem, but pulling the boat out was.  I have a GMC Acadia with front wheel drive and a Ranger RT188 aluminum bass boat.  We could not pull the boat out without help.
