Fished saturday at hat and star all day with my stepbrother. Fished all day I caught 8 fish 6 harvest fish and 2 overs. Caught a 3 and half and a 4 and half pound fish. Nice fish but not one you go out there to catch. Maybe next time. Caught fish on Yamamato D shad one small one on a lizard. No big fish caught but couple nice fish and harvest fish looked healthy. One question though. What is the main forage in that lake? I know the fish were moving up to spawn actually spooked one of the giants when my bait landed right near her was huge boil. We noticed no bluegills at all no small minnows or anything usually can see small baitfish or bluegills normally we just thought was odd didnt see anything at all. Fish looked good though. Just curious

Bluegill and Red Ear Sunfish. Their numbers are the lowest of the year right now. The last spawn was probably October. Their numbers will dramatically increase in about a month when the spawn starts again. Bluegill spawn every 35 days when water temps are 70 to 85. This usually means 3 to 4 times a year in NE Texas.
