Fished Athens NE 2 weeks ago.  Fished from 8:30am until about 2pm.  Got 2 bites all day and caught two fish.  The first was a strong fighting 3 lber.  The second was this monster!  11lbs on the boga grip crushing my 8lb personal best.  Quality and difficulty of taking solo pictures while trying to keep this guy out of the water as little as possible has got me thinking about investing in a selfie stick.

That's a great fish, Carlos, and a worth PB! It certainly shows that getting out there in not-so-perfect conditions can really pay off this time of year. Congratulations on a super catch!

Next 3 weeks will probably be the best of the year for big fish. We had a 12.12 caught at Rough Creek this weekend. Lots of other big fish being caught. I think the spawn will be 2 weeks early this year.  In the southern/mid part of the state I expect the spawn to be early March. Dallas and east Texas expect March 10-25. If I had to guess it will be over by April 1st. Get out now!!

We were surveying our Austin and San Antonio properties last week and water temps are in the low 60's.
