Fished today Tuesday for half a day in the afternoon. Got there under cloudy skies and very breezy.  Maybe 10 mph out of SSE.  The lake is very full could be 65 acres. Going over the spillway, maybe 3 to 5 inches. Started on southeast side as the hill protects you from the wind. Was throwing watermelon seed zoom super fluke.  Caught 5 , 2 harvested and the other 3 all round 16".  Dropped the anchor to slow my drift down the dam.  Caught 4 on the drift.  Threw 3 back, again around 16 inches kept 1.  I'm throwing the fluke right to the shore or maybe three feet off. All bites were reaction bites. As soon as the fluke hit the water, fish on.  The skies cleared and winds subsided. The fishing slowed down. As the west and now south shores get the shade first I moved to the flats. The flats is the cove directly across the lake from boat dock.  I started the south shore of the flats and at 4:30pm it came alive. Every toss was a fish on the fluke. I knew that there was going to be a lot of new cover so I loaded 10 pound test on my reels.  I needed that extra strength as the bass got tangled in the new stick ups.  I lost 5 or 6 in the heavy cover but boated another 6 all bigger than 14". The best was 17". I got back to the dock and loaded my truck.  I stopped at DQ on 67 and I35 for a burger. Ate the burger there and was home and unloaded by 7:30pm.   The water is stained slightly maybe 5 to 6 foot visibility.  The roads are in great shape.  Someone with a gas blower should blow out the pontoon boat.  We could also use a new rear dock line.  If someone doesn't have one I will replace on my next trip.  Boys get to Six O before the water temp drops too much.  If can be a difficult fish in the dead of winter. Saw some deer on Fm200 and park road 21. So be careful as this is the time of the year those Does make the Bucks do stupid things.

Is the mini pontoon boat big enough for an adult and two children??  Hard to tell from the picture on the website.

Plenty of room.  Has 2 seats plus a bench in the back.  The bench is aluminum so you may want to bring a cushion.   Bob's advice would be with kids and depending on their ages would be as follows.  Young kids have them fish first at the dock with cheap white bread balls for bluegills. If they are older then get after the bass immediately. The lake is different with all that water. My thoughts are south end, work the shorelines, the flats across lake from dock and maybe first cove going north to fish the old dam. My reasoning is some timber is now just below surface at north end. You hit it and the boat may come to a sudden stop. Things will go flying, I worry about people.  Plenty of fish in south end but if you go north go slow and have a lookout person for timber.  Also that shore on east side going north from the dock is always productive.  I found them  shallow on watermelon seed. I tried red Shad and bubblegum with no takers.  I also threw a buzz bait and spinner bait with no takers.  I hope this helps, enjoy.

Bob - Thanks for the info.  Never fished the tank and have been a member for a long time.  Think we will make a trip and teach the boys how to catch some big bluegill on the flyrod.

Black or green wooly bugger with a little tinsel or a royal coachman size 8. Has worked in the past. I'm sure streamer would work well too.   Both corners at the dam usually hold some nice coppernose.  Hard to tell with all the water where they are going to be.  If you see a hatch on the lake put on something black and you'll catch them.  Good Luck.

Sounds like a great trip! I like Six O, if for no other reason than it's one of the closest properties to me. Always catch fish there, but not in the numbers you found. Thanks for the detailed report!

Note: We usually follow up our morning fishing trips with a visit to Grump's Burgers in Cleburne.
