Took my 12 yr old son to Cleburne on Saturday afternoon - first time we had been out on a club lake in a while. Weather was perfect, lake is a couple of feet down, weeds around the edges starting to die off, water temp 77deg. Got down to the far cove when my trolling motor packed-up - ended up being a long four hours of paddling. We had a great time though, caught 4 in total on TX-rigged worms and rattle traps, largest about 3lb, think we'd have done better if not reliant on muscle power
Now have a new motor…. will be taking him out again in a few weeks

Trolling motors last for a long time. Did you check to see if you had fishing line around the prop or if the pin holding the prop was sheared?
