The lake is down approx. 3' from top of overflow.  Lots of weed growth, but most is a foot below surface. The water is the creek channel was stained and about 2' clarity. Down by the dam maybe 4' clarity. The day begins trying to locate the fish and what they were willing to take.  After about 30 minutes located one in main creek channel. From there it was search and find the fish all day long. How strange was the day at 10:30, Jason my partner hits a 5 pounder on a black frog in the middle of the lake. then again at 12:30 he get another 4 pounder. so this is how the day went. Caught fish on black frogs, black buzz bait, red spinners, watermelon swim baits, white and watermelon super flukes and red shad senkos. The bait fish population is concentrated on tilipia. So the final count for the day was (approx weights)  12 two to three pounds, 10 four pounds, 3 five pounds and 1 eight pounds, my fish check it stick is 22 inches and it went another 2 inches. Best fishing of the day was from 6pm till dark.  Very healthy and very fat fish. The owner and privatewater have done an excellent job managing this lake. I'm a numbers person and just like to catch fish but i was very happy today.  Oh, the big fish was caught on spinning tackle, shimano reel, light action rod with 4 pound test mono. This fish gave me a run for my money but sometimes you get lucky. I was using a zoom watermelon super fluke weightless. I cast them to make the biggest splash as hoping for a reaction bite. I will try to post a photo

Bob,

Great report.  Fighting and landing the 8-pounder on the light tackle and 4-lb mono is pretty impressive.

Mark thanks for the good words.  I had a fellow privatewater member go out with me to Fairfield and laughed that I used a fairy stick to fish.  I told him the magic was in a really sharp hook and a proper drag set. Then promptly set the hook on a nice fish.  We never did go out again together. I thought I had 6 pound test on the reel at Northeast but I took that rod and reel to Colorado with my four grandkids and loaded it up with 4 pound test.  My partner Jason uses Fireline.  That stuff is so tough you need special scissors to cut it.  He laughs at me all the time especially when a nice fish buries itself in the weeds and I lose it.  I just like to fish.
