I took a fellow retired guest/ Sunday School buddy and treated him to his first club lake experience. We fished from about 7:30 am to 11:30 when I had to head back to Big D. The fish were scattered. We boated about 25 I suspect with several in the 2 1/2 pound range. They were short and stout. Bait fish were congregated in the middle of the lake and around the timber and fish came from lipless crank baits under that open water activity, many on top waters near the banks, lizards near timber, and my buddy had many hook ups on a white Crappie jig. All we caught were bass - no Crappie.

Nice to have a few lakes so close to home if you have limited time available. The water is gin clear and you can see the baits and fish on the line a great distance… You need a truck to access this lake as the road to the lake is more than a little rough. I like this lake as well due to the lower cost, size of the lake, location in relation to Dallas, timber in the lake, and bait fish.

I used my Pelican boat as it's much more comfortable than the boat provided there.

Looking forward to this season and perhaps checking out some of the newer lakes in the club.
