Fished my favorite place Saturday with not much luck. The lake has a growth of I believe coon tail weeds that cover 30 to 50 feet out from the bank around the whole lake. This means in most areas you start fishing at 8 to 10 ft depths. And the fish have plenty of cover in the weeds. The water is clear with visibility up to 10 feet. Water temp was 85 to 88. You can only get about a third of the way in on the upper creek channels. I caught 15 to 20 bass with only 4 over 14in. The weeds have taken out 20% of the area.

Hi John,
You have had a rough couple of trips. We need to get you on some fish. Take a look at some of the reports at Black Hat, Jer Mar, Triple J or 9G this past month. Fishing has been good at some of the Dallas area lakes.
Ideally we like vegetation in our lakes at about 10-15%. More than 50% and bass have a hard time feeding efficiently. Vegetation holds invertebrates, crustaceans, insects, worms and all kinds of stuff for bluegill to feed on. Moreover, vegetation is great for keeping bluegill fry safer than open areas. I know most of you don't really like vegetation as it makes fishing frustrating. I don't really like it either. However, SOME vegetation is a good thing.
