So special thanks to Robert Lundin for pointing out how much the perch and bluegills at 6.0 Ranch love bread. Today was a special day for me. It was a regular day off work and my wife (teacher) had an in service day a week before the kids are back. When I heard on the news a few nights back that the high was going to be around 85 today I jumped up and made a reservation for 6.0 and plans to surprise my daughter with a trip. We took my little twin troller but the lake is heavy with emergent grass and the level has dropped a little. Knowing I could't let the trailer touch the water I decided to keep the boat trailered and fish off the dock. The day was planned around her anyway and I only took 2 bass rods. I think I made 3 casts all morning as the perch action was so fast and furious I gladly put my rods down and spent the morning focused on letting my 6 year old have a great trip. Here are a few pics. And again, when I hit return with my iPad the cursor goes back up top instead of a new paragraph…...so this is a little hard to follow .....we got there and it was raining and we could see cloud to ground lightening we decided to sit it out in the truck and prep the bread for bait…....then we saw some cows approach just past the shack… My daughter had a hoot watching the cows and the many Jack rabbits we saw…..then a few fish pics and an exhausted 6 year old for the ride home….she was a trooper getting up at 5 am to make this trip. The early start was her idea!!! Sorry….the pics posted backwards in order but you get the idea

I'm glad y'all had a great time. My best fishing memories are when I have taken my kids, or grandkids or beginning fishermen. Plus Six O is a beautiful set up, covered dock, good roads, lots of wildlife and plenty of willing bluegills to be caught. This winter after the freshwater fishery center in Athens put 5,000 rainbow trout in their pond take her there for the day. Pack a lunch, the fishing setup should be a size 10 hook with a bobber 3 to 4 feet above. Go to Walmart and buy a bag of small shrimp($6). No split shots on the line. We want a slow drop as the trout are from a hatchery and continue to swim in schools. Other things to do are viewing tanks, diver hand feeding bass and of course to stretch the legs a nice hike after lunch on their trail. Pack a lunch no place to buy anything. After fishing go to gift store and they have ice cream bars to treat yourselves. You can also setup a rig for catfish too. I use a size 4 hook with a piece of hotdog below the bobber again no weight on line. There are also coppernose bluegills to catch too. Biggest cat the kids caught was a 6 pound blue. The center is open from 9 to 4 and 1 to 4 on Sunday. Closed Monday. Watch your speed on hwy 175. Lots of speed traps.
