My son (14) and I went to the Triple J for a full day today. Arrived by 7am. I observed the weed situation referenced below, and walked the entire perimeter of the 10 acre lake, and found 3 or 4 small gaps where I was able to launch a spinner into the clear. Without a boat, fishermen at the Triple J would be S.O.L.
But this is PWF! And we members have access to a boat, so after we got away from the edges, we were FOL (fish-on-line). We caught 27 total, with only a handful of ‘wigglers’. No Crappie, although I swear we caught a bass/crappie hybrid (got a photo).
The bass we caught were very healthy, and averaged 3 lbs, with the biggest 4.25#. We caught them primarily on chartreuse spinner baits. We did catch some with Rappalla floating minnow divers, and a few on texas-rigged plastics. Great day, once we got into the middle.
If you go to the Triple J, bring a rope/anchor, so that you can start upwind and work your way down the middle fishing either side. We used my tow rope and cinder block we found - worked great.
Super way to end my 14 year old’s summer of adventure before starting school tomorrow. Thanks PWF! - Michael
