My friend Ron and I fished the afternoon of July 16.  Weather was hot, partly cloudy, with winds 10 mph and swinging around.  We expected hot topwater action at dusk, with good frog and buzzbait bite.  Didn't happen.  We actually caught more fish between 2-4 pm than at dusk, like they shutdown and went to an early bed.

Started fishing at 1:30 pm, and immediately hooked two good fish on a medium crankbait, but couldn't boat either one.  The second was 5-7 lbs.  Never caught another crank fish all afternoon.  We did catch about 12 fish between us and lost several others on soft plastics worked in the weeds.  Ron gave the frog and buzzbait a workout and I don't think he had a hit on either one.  Boated several fish 4-5 lbs, and others above 2 lbs.  Only two harvest fish, both under 12 inches.

We can't wait to hit this lake in the spring.

Be safe and tight lines, guys!

Jim
