Fry
Fellow member Cliff Holloway and I fished Beaver Lake for the first time today. The water levels were still good. Fishing action was consistent if not hot. We each caught 4 bass between 1# to 2# and also picked up a few small bluegill. The bluegill appeared to be pretty hungry, attacking magnum flukes and magnum finesse worms as well as a Yellow Magic. We didn't see any clouds of bass fry or other minnows in the lake, so they may actually be pretty hungry. Bass were primarily caught on wacky rigs (red, pumpkin and blue) and a yellow spinnerbait. We had strikes all morning but many of them appeared to be bluegills pulling on the worm tails. Water temp was 84.7 and the skies were clear. Wind was gusting pretty good at times and made loading the boat on the trailer a challenge.
All in all, we both enjoyed the lake and would like to try it again in the fall and spring. There was one love sick sounding bull in the pasture when we got there, but he was no bother. Thanks to the land owner for sharing their place with us!
