Since I left my common sense someplace we decided to go fishing instead of heeding Mother Nature's warnings.  We arrived early under cloudy Skies. Things started slow, we tried everything we had in our arsenal.  The morning ended with 12 fish caught and released.  Everything we caught in the AM were 3 to 5 pounds.  I was out fished by my partner 8 to 4.  He caught them on frogs both white and black. I caught mine on flukes, white and watermelon seed.  We ate lunch tried to come up with a plan for the afternoon. As we are creatures of habit we went back to the areas we caught fish in the morning. Around 3:30 in the afternoon the bite came alive mostly on flukes. Caught 20 fish in the afternoon which we harvested 6 and 1 crappie.  The fish were big and strong. One fish went approx. 8 lbs.  The best areas were the south shore and the sunken island.  You can locate the island by two trees still growing in the lake. The afternoon bite also. Included frogs along with flukes.  Nothing on buzz baits.  Didn't try crankbaits or lipless baits.  Oh, the day turned sunny with no rain.

Primrose around the perimeter and weeds a foot to 18 inches below. But the lake is at least 3 feet over normal pool. We didn't have  many issues as we were throwing weedless frogs and jerk baits.  I tried a few wacky rigs but weeds deter me and I went back to flukes.  I would check with the club before you book to get an update on road conditions.  There are some monster bass in that lake and all fish even the 12 inchers were fat and healthy.  I did throw a pop-r to the edge of the primrose with no weed issues but no strikes either.  The bite was more about the time of day than color. Each of us were throwing two different Colored flukes  in morning and afternoon. In the afternoon they hammered both colors.
