I will recap my day and a half of fishing by each lake.
Gate Lake - fished it Friday afternoon after we got situated in. I was surprised to catch 6 Bass. Four of them around 10 to 12 inches and two in the 15 to 16 inches. I released them all as I tought after last summer I was surprised to catch anything. Caught them on 5 inch red shad senko. Fair amount of water in this lake now. Did not fish it on Saturday.
Beaver Lake - Fished it Friday afternoon and 5 Bass and released them all. Beaver is going over the spill way. All fish were around 14 inches and again I released all of them. Caught on red shad senko.
Upper Jer Mar - fished it but no fish on Friday. I have never caught a fish from Upper Jer Mar.
Lower JerMar - Friday night caught 5 real nice pre spawn fish loaded with roe. Caught them on red Crankbait, red spinner bait and zoom Mag. 7" fluke. Released all fish to spawn another day. There are two pairs of Geese on the lower lake. Plus I competed with 2 fishermen better than me. A pair of otters were working the bank along lower Jer Mar. I could not use the boat on Saturday morning because of the wind. So I walked around the entire lake all day fishing. Easy to bank fish at this time of year. Except for the Gumbo mud on my boots. I caught and release 11 on Saturday. I only carried two poles a white spinner bait and a senko/ zoom fluke. I release all fish 7 of the fish were fat and I assumed female. Most in the 3 to 4 pound range. The lake grew by 8 feet from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning. Upper is spills into lower. Lower was not spilling and maybe 6 to 8 feet before going over. Should make for a great spring. If you fish a spinner I found a slow retrieve worked best. The plastic bite was just a soft pick up never had one pick up and run. The main road is in good shape but stay on the main road. This old man is tired and needs a little rest. Plant a few tomato plants and then you guessed it "go fishing again".

Bob, It was nice to meet you on Friday as we turned over the cabin to you and your wife. You certainly had a better time of it than we did fishing in the rain on Friday morning. I'm taking notes from your report and hope to do better next time we visit JerMar… and there will be a next time!
