I took Friday off from work in Dallas to head down to La Grange, with the intention of following it up with a trip to Gruene to see Todd Snider play at Gruene Hall on Saturday night. First time to this property, really enjoyed it. Tent camped the night of Friday, and the land owner came up shortly after I'd gotten there and made a helpful suggestion about moving camp to the far side of the lake. Was a nicer area that I hadn't known we could drive up to. Very helpful. Also, I'd brought my own firewood not knowing what the situation would be, but there's a ton of cleared brush around. Good to know for next time.

Fishing was average to above average, almost exclusively on the west side of the lake. Chrome rattle traps were the most consistent producers, followed by Texas rigged pumpkin Senkos. Top water was slow (although the biggest fish of the trip, about 3 lbs, was caught on a white 3/8 oz buzzbait). Lots of wild life to get to watch while I fished as there were lots of deer and ducks. All together, nice little trip.
