Always wanted to see if the Bass respond to an eclipse.  Yes they did!  Fished yesterday afternoon  with my neighbor.  Just needed to locate them.  Caught 3 in the main lake on senkos with a worm spinner attached.  The wind was steady maybe 10 mph from southeast. We started the drift down the creek channel.  Picked up a few until we got about 100 yards from the north end. The fishing came alive.  We had times that two casts and got two Bass.  All of the action was on senkos in Red Shad cast into the channel.  Threw some top water at the end going back to the dock. I was the teacher and failed miserably. My neighbor had at least 20 blowups and not one hook up.  He just couldn't hesitate and let the Bass take it.  These were all on a Spro bronze eyed frog color white.  Biggest of the day was a couple of 4 pounders and total for the afternoon right around 30 very healthy Bass.

Side notes.  The water is crystal clear, the lake is full and the weeds are at the top on both sides.  For the duck hunters there was a flock of ducks, maybe 30. Not sure what they were but dark with short bills.  Plus there were another 5 or 6 singles they were larger in size but also dark.

Now the funny part of the day. Pulled back to the dock right around 7pm. Just pulled up and the fish feeder went off. I got pelted pretty good and thank God I was standing up ready to exit the boat. Now I know how a duck feels when it gets blasted with shotgun pellets.  Provided a good  laugh to end the day.

Only took just over one hour going up 121 from Grapevine. I love that short trip especially on the ride home.

Bob,

Thanks for a thorough report from a positive, thoughtful guy. For those of you who do not know Bob, you are missing out. He is a great guy!

Phillip the problem with the stinger hook is the weeds. At JerMar you are throwing to a mat of weeds on the surface. You get the blowup in the weed breaks.  You can see them coming like a torpedo from a U boat.  I have the same problem on the first couple of blowups. Action and my reaction instead of letting the Bass take in down.

Now the beetle spin is sometimes a good choice.  Years ago the club had a lake in Rockwall that a beetle spin was very productive.  I bet if I went back to that lake I couldn't get near it with all the homes now built.

Another interesting lake was in Anna near a prison.  Had some nice deep creeks feeding it.  Great place during the spring when the bass are on the beds.
