Had an enjoyable trip to BlackJack late Tuesday afternoon. Beautiful weather and calm wind. Caught about 8 fish, all on big bluegill pattern streamers and dragonfly flies. One fish was 22"+, 2 others around 16", harvested 5 fish. Tried other topwater poppers but they would only eat the dragonflies. The weeds have subsided, they were so thick this spring and summer you could hardly fish anything subsurface.
The lake is very low relative to prior trips in the spring, about 4' below the pier which leaves alot of exposed bank. The shallow end opposite the dam is pretty much unfishable. Looks like they have been pumping water OUT of the lake.
Thanks Seth for facilitating my last minute (same day) reservation.

Brad,
They had been pumping water out of the lake last month when fracking was going on at BlackJack Ranch, but they are now pumping water back in to the lake from three wells. The lake will continue having water pumped into it until it is full. So it will keep rising, and hopefully it won't be to long until the lake is back to full pool again!
