Fished Giddings on Sunday the 31st from 5 pm till around 7:30. Got to the lake and the wind was howling, white caps. When I left the house in Houston, no wind. The boat was not at the pier, looked around the area for it but could not find it. The weeds are waist high and difficult to get thru. The weed line in water keeps you from fishing from the bank effectively. Fished from the pier while my wife took pictures and walked around away from the high weeds. She really enjoys seeing the animals and birds when we go. Makes for a good deal, I spend the day with her shopping our way to the lake and then I fish some while she enjoys the outdoors. Caught 3 fish, one around 3 1/2 pounds and the other 2 were over 14". All 3 were real nice fish, all on plastics. The weeds did not look thick in the water, wind was chopping the water but when I threw a rattletrap from the pier I made a full turn casting it and never got into any weeds. The bank area is still matted but it looks like the weeds out in the lake itself has thinned out substantially. Wish I could have gone out in boat. Water level is a foot below the pier and the well/pipe by the dam is still pouring water into the lake. When we left we finally found the boat at the shallow end of lake opposite the dam pulled up under a tree about 50 yards from the water. Could not have launched from that part of lake anyways and couldn't move it because we were in my wifes SUV. Did not want to drag it a couple hundred yards to pier area. Will be in truck the next trip so I can get boat back to where it is accessable to launching. Great day to be out fishing, always fun and a very nice day with wife finished off with catching a few fish.
