I fished Friday AM on a typical August day because my Gulf fishing trip got postponed and I had to go fishing. According to a couple of guys I ran into on the porperty the lake is down 10 feet. Having fished it a year and half ago I can tell you it is a very different lake and not in a good way due to the lack of rain. The lake used to go up to the dock on the North end, the lake is now dry a third of the way down the lake and a good quarter to a third of the remaining water is only 2 to 3 ft deep. Very sad. So the lake is much smaller but the fish aren’t any easier to catch. I didn’t get a bite all morning. So much for the theory of the fish being concentrated so they are easier to catch. There are fish in the lake, saw three jump at different times and different places around the lake. We need a lot of rain in that part of TX thats for sure.

Chris,
Yes, very sad. The lake is about 40% full and next to Medina Elm Creek it is the lowest, as a percentage of water, of any club lake. Surprising enough there are really only 3 lakes that are less than 75% full. Those are Decatur, Bowie and Medina. Tarpley is about 75% full. In some respects our club lakes have caught enough rain to keep them very fishable. We still need the rain in most of the state, it is our public lakes that need huge rain events to fill again.
I wish you had caught a few. This lake produced a 13lb+ plus fish 2 years ago. It is a good lake, that is going through a rough time. Come on winter rain.
