I fished the east lake from daylight until noon, and had very minimal results. Caught 4 over 14" and one dink. Did catch one crappie on a Sexy Shad Rattletrap. Three of the bass hit plastic worms and one hit a frog. Went to West Lake, and had my chance at what could have been a PB or a DD. At 12:15, at the same place I caught the bass on the Rattletrap last week, I had a good, solid strike - again on the Sexy Shad trap that I had customized with bigger and stronger hooks. This was a big fish. Once I got it close, it circled the boat twice and then decided to go under it. I couldn't turn the fish. When I tried, it almost took the rod out of my hands. End result? Hung me in the coontail and got off. It took about an hour for the adrenaline to go away. I don't know what it is with big bass and noon, but I've caught more between noon and 12:30 p.m. than at any other time. At any rate, I ended up with a few dinks and 11 good ones on the west lake. Biggest two were just under 21" long, but thin in the body. One weighed right at 4 pounds. Successful lures were the Sexy Shad Rattletrap, green pumpkin/black flake and black/blue flake Senkos rigged on weedless (yeah, right) wacky hooks, black/red flake 7" Jaw Tec lizards, silver/black back #11 balsa Rapala, hollow body frog, and 4" T-rigged black worm. Water temp was 85° in both lakes. Mr. Birt has mowed the launch areas at both lakes, so launching is a bit easier now. I can't wait to fish those two lakes in early spring before the coontail gets so thick.

Thanks for the recommendations, Phillip. I'll be sure to put some of those on my to do list.
