Fished Timber Lake this past Saturday morning and struck out for the first 2 hours on my old stand bys: frogs, zara spooks, flukes and crankbaits.  Earlier in the week I read Tom Dillon's fishing report that described his success using black/blue plastics.  I picked up some black/blue craws and lizards and decided to give them a try. The very first cast into the trees produced a very healthy 18 incher and the action was steady until the heat got the best of me and I left at 10:30.  I camped at the lake Friday evening and the middle of the lake was a steady boil just before dusk with the bass chasing the shad.

I had the same experience for the last 30 minutes or so of light about a month ago. Sounds like it wasn't a fluke. Good to know.
