I fished Timber lake alone this afternoon from noon until 7:45, and had a really great time. What a beautiful little body of water! I can see why so many members love that little lake. I’ll definitely go back. I didn’t catch a lot of fish, but most of the ones I caught were quality fish. I boated 14 bass over 14” in length. Only caught 4 ‘unders,’ all of which were harvested. Most of today’s fish were interested in black or black/blue combinations: either a black/blue jig with black 6” pork eel or 4” pork split-tail, Texas-rigged 7” black/blue lizard, or a 4” black worm. Caught 2 on a green pumpkin/black flake Senko rigged wacky style with no weight. The two biggest fish were a 20.75” 4-06 that hit a T-rigged lizard at 4:30 p.m. and a 19.5" that hit a Spro frog 30 minutes later. It went 4-00.My first frog fish hit at 3:15, and the second one hit at 3:32. I had a total of 3 amazingly-violent hits on the frog, and boated all three – my first frog bass. Except for those frog fish, the bass over 16” hit along the outer tree line across the dam from the ramp. They were holding tight to the thickest brush and laying down logs. Most hit on the initial fall. I had a couple of fish wrap me up, but only lost one of them.
The hydrilla is matted pretty well all around the lake. I didn’t try to punch through it but a couple of times, but the frog hits were in the mat. There’s quite a bit of mat at the ramp – glad I had a paddle with me. I took two cans of “long distance” wasp spray, and although they were buzzing me all afternoon, none stung. The only wasp nest I saw was about 20 feet up in a tree, so I didn't use the wasp spray.

Glad to hear you are figuring out the lake! Great job Tom. Those frog fish sure get your heart going. Nice to hear this trip went well.
