Spent a whole day out at Blackjack this past Saturday June 14 with my best friend. It was kind of a early Father’s day present for ourselves. We were pretty excited to get some time on the water since it’s a year since got the chance to do some fishing together. For anglers looking for some frogging action, this is prime for it. Thankfully we did some homework before we got to the property and reviewed some of the earlier reports. Thank you John Egan. The lake is about 75% covered in grass. There are some open water areas, but if you don’t have weedless options, it’s going to be a tough day. It was a challenging day for the both of us. The trolling motor we had was almost not used. Bring the paddles friends, it’s thick. We had some early hits on frogs, but nothing landed. After about 10:00 am, it gets a bit hot so pack the water. There is little shade on this property. My best friend blanked out for the day, but he did miss about 4-5 with frogs on the West side..The shallow side of the lake presented the most action. I locked a good bass while throwing a frog in the deep grass then making the hop to the shoreline. I hooked him, but after fighting through the green stuff he popped off right the boat. I got a good look at him, but he had me beat. I finally landed one bass about 19” while fishing in the middle of the lake in one of the open water pockets. He took in an old school 7” Bungee Worm Black/Blue Fleck. I was pleased to not blank out as well. That was around 2:30. The rest of the day we spent chasing on the west side of the lake missing multiple strikes on frogs. All in all it was a hard day with one fish landed, but I enjoyed the time with my bud and will come again once the salad has been eaten down some.

Lures used:
Spro Natural frog
Bungee Worm 7”
Chatterbait Frog
Chatterbait Minnow
