For my first trip as a new member,I picked Malouf for a Sunday morning trip. After realizing my eyes are officially old and spending 10 minutes trying to get the locked unlocked, I finally gave in and dug my reading glasses out of my tackle bag. Once that battle was waged, it was on to the task at hand- putting fish in the boat.
The day was gorgeous with the relentless winds we have had the past months finally lying down. I found the grass plentiful but not yet matted. Caught them early on a yellow magic. These turned out to be some of the bigger fish of the day and were a blast. They were relating to timber below the surface and I found where several trees were by catching multiple fish before I ever saw the submerged try.
After the sun came up I switched from a senko to a walermelonseed (very translucent) 7” worm. Caught probably 20 by making long casts and slowly dragging the bottom. The fish were in the deeper by the timber. Caught a few close to cover also by throwing at the timber.
Finished the day with around 35 for the morning. Nothing huge but fun steady action. Just the reason I joined PWF and I’m glad I did.
