Fished Canton Kickapoo with my older Brother and my friend Mike who happens to own a paint and body shop.

Who would have known a paint and body guy could have so much finesse to fish a Texas rigged Berkley power worm with so much success. By no means am I knocking Mike because of his trade. I am just saying, I’ve always know him to be tuff and fast moving when he is disassembling cars in the shop but after seeing him completely slow down and work each piece of cover and go through a bag of worm I was very surprised and impressed.

Mike had a blast catching small bass and his best of the day was a 4 pounder. We fished from the bank due to the soft ground near the launch area would not allow us to drop my boat in the water. We started fishing at 7 am and quickly had a good bite using scum frogs, buzz baits, pop Rs and Mike with his power worm.  As the sun got higher I switched to a spinner bait but soon changed to a fluke due to the green slime, my brother used a Texas rigged craw fish and Mike continued to use his power worm. We only fished a half day because Mike had to get back to his shop. We harvested 25 bass and released 5 over the slot, no crappie was caught and we had 2 none fishermen join us on the trip

This was mike first time out to a PWF site and he is now thinking of becoming a member. I politely told him on the ride back to Dallas that he needs to either bring more worms or learn how to use a fluke because I started to beat him 3 to 1 when I made the change.

All in all it was a good day on the water
