Fished with another member all day Saturday and when we left for lunch in Canton we left the kayaks and fishing equipment in the boats.When we returned I saw that the cattle were milling around the launch area and I became very apprehensive.As we eased down to the kayaks we noticed one of the large calves had a fluke in its mouth and was pulling the rod and reel behind it.After realizing that we could not get close enough to cut the line we went up to Mr Birt’s house and told him what was going on.He followed us back down to the lake,saw the problem and called his son.
Fortunately the fluke became dislodged and fell out of the calves mouth five minutes later.The cow was OK,the fishing equipment recovered and we were not shot.Cows will try to eat anything!!!

Caught 45 bass,of which 30 were over 14”.Largest 41/2 lbs
Removed 20 large crappie
Caught 36 large bream

Lake is full and in great shape without the vegetation causing
much of a problem.

Just a note to fellow members;
We’ve got a small cattle operation near Ennis. You should do your best to keep cattle away from your vehicles. I’ve seen some massive dents put in truck fenders from cows playing and pushing each other.
