You know how sometimes no matter what lure you throw you just can’t buy a strike.  This was not one of those times.

I had a chance to fish the lake on Friday the 18th and half day on Saturday the 19th.  The fishing was about as good as you could imagine.

I started off with buzz baits, they sure liked those.  Bladed jigs, they gobbled those up as well.  Ditto for swimming flukes, rage shad, rattling rogues, zoom trick worms.  I even managed to catch 20 on my all time favorite lure the Zara Spook.  Whenever the action would slow down even for a short while, I would switch lures and they would fire right back up.  the only lure I couldn’t get them to bite was another favorite, a fluke.  All in all I was able to catch 144 bass.

I would guess that approximately half those fish were over 2 1/2 pounds with only a dozen or so dinks.  12 over 4 pounds and 5.2 and 5.8 being the largest.

If you haven’t been here before.  You need to come.  The cabin is incredible.  My wife and son were with me on the trip and they loved the cabin.  The new “Pondtoon” boat is a gem as well.  Neither my wife or son fish, but they really enjoyed trolling around on the new boat.

The lake and surrounding area is beautiful and I witnessed a sunrise that takes your breath away.
