After the American Sportsman Club closed in the mid eighties there weren’t many places to fish when the lakes were white capping. Years later the Bass Club was formed and bank fishing returned, and now In my 15th year with them it was great to load up the old dove bucket, a pair of rubber boots and head for the Triple J.
The first thing was to lob several long casts with the gale force wind to get out some of the left over twist in the line from the last trip. The water is still fairly clear by the dam and a little less up the lake. Vegetation ect is continuing to grow up to 5-10 ft out, but not a major problem and a little coontail farther out.
A spinner bait with a gold Colorado on an orange jig with a black orange curly tail produced several on the east side and a 2 lb on the sw point. A bubblegum Zoom trick worm caught 5 in the creek channel and several off the dam with one at 22 “.
A Junebug Zoom ringer fished buzz bait style caught several in the slop in the west corner with a 19 and a 21 1/2 “. The fishes’ huge wake could be seen for 10’ as it darted to the bait, stopping it and letting drop produced vicious strikes.
