Fellow member Chuck Sullivan and I fished Saba the afternoon of March 31st and from 7AM until 4PM the next day. We did not get the usual numbers, but caught about 15 between us. All were above the slot and most were in the 3-4 lb range.

All mine were caught on a medium diving crank bait (red, black, chart) in 4-6 ft of water along the bank especially in the cove to the right of the launch site. My largest was 4 lbs and 21” (currently 3rd place). I did miss something big as it took about 20 ft of drag and it was set to the tension for the 21”.

Chuck caught most of his (largest 5.4 lbs) on dark colored jigs fished deep and slow.

We tried top water in the morning and I got 4-5 hits on a hula popper (nothing hit Zara spook or buzz bait).

Water temp: 62-65

Very windy

Tried deep and shallow cranks, spinners, worms, flukes and no hits.

Thanks for the report and pictures.  I am fishing there in a couple of weeks.

Shouldn’t a 21” fish weigh more than 4 lbs? It was clearly all of 21” from the photo posted on the contest page.  Seems to me your scale might be off.

Good luck. We were in a hurry to measure it and get it into the water so the weighing was fast.

haha, it is more common for fisherman to OVER estimate weight. Thanks again for posting.
