Started around 12:30 and when I turned over the boat I noticed a fire ant nest underneath the boat. Ten minutes into the trip I realized I was covered with fire ants and the boat was crawling with them. That ended the fishing from the boat part of the trip. I then switched tactics and fished the entire shore with spinner baits. This was the perfect bait because the weeds and algae never came into play. Caught a total of 12 fish with 5 in the 16-18” range. All of the fish fought hard and looked very healthy. The lake is at its lowest level since I started fishing it more than two years ago. Contrast the picture I took with the picture on the website and it will give you an idea how the lake needs a good rainfall. Despite the lower water level it does not appear to have impacted the fishing. I made sure to not return the boat to the fire ant nest.

I got nailed by fire ants when I was fishing at Triple J several years ago and ended up with some nasty bites on my leg. This location was my favorite when I was a member of PWF.
