Fished Post Oak on Jan 25th from 10:30 - 4:30. I caught just one 3lb on a 3/4 oz brown jig with an orange trailer. Tried almost everything, but one got that one bite.

The weather was cold starting at 32 and ending at 43. Luckily there was not much wind. I did chart multiple bass in the 6-13 ft range. There is plenty of vegetation in the middle of the property.

Since this was my first trip, I ran the property using my depth finder. The deepest part is about 15 ft and is located between the two feeders on the dam about 30 yards from the dam.  There are two boats there. The jon boat has a large nut and bolt for the drain plug and leaks. Of course, I found that out after I had loaded all my equipment and trolling motor. The other boat is a plastic bass raider type. There are two seats for that boat.

I hope to return next month and have better success.

Bill,

I had similar results the Sunday before you fished there.  Member Tim Ferrigan and I had one bass each in about 3 1/2 hours of afternoon fishing.  The wind was brutal and bites were few and far between.  Both were caught on chartruse spinnerbaits.  Just need some warmer weather to get things moving.  I’ve fished Post Oak many times and the quality of the fish there is impressive.  Very few dinks, with many bass in the 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 range.

Good luck on your next trip.

Tom. Thanks for the response. I have made reservations for Mar 1st and I hope the weather is warmer. When you fish here, do you use the boats or bring your own?

It is a little trip for me as I live west of San Antonio. Are you interested in joining me in March?

I bring my own boat, a 10ft. pelican.  The two boats on site are convenient, but I don’t care for the leak or the shorter length on the Buster type boat.  The March trip would be a go for me at this time.  Thanks for the invitation and I’ll communicate with you further as the date nears.

Good fishing til then.
