I duck hunted Fairfield on opening day, 11/2/13. The property had received 4 plus inches of rain that week, but the ground around the lake was solid.
I set up on the NE side of the lake since there was a north wind. There is no permanent blind on the property, so hunting requires a layout blind.
I had one group of 5 gadwall work in well and two stayed. One other group of gaddies landed on the south end. That was it for the puddle ducks.
There were a few divers around but I prefer puddle ducks.
We need some snow up north to move our friends south.
