I fished here Friday Afternoon PM 11/8/13. Left work to go fishing . Beautiful afternoon. The property has been mowed around the lake , water looks nice, and the lake got some water. The owner John was by and he said it had come up, I would say it came about a foot. It was back up in the creek bed a little. Perfect for bank fishing. I caught 4 fish the largest was one of the two pounders and the other 3 were in the pound range. Fighters (drag pullers) and healthy looking fish. Plum 6 inch Texas rigged worm with 5.0 hook is my usual rig. I also use a very light sinker. The water was probably a little cool from the cold front earlier in the week. I saw a few bass up running into baitfish and the baitfish seemed to be all over the lake . Not sure if they are shad or what, but the bass were enjoying them some. Looking forward to heading out here again soon. Roy Cotton

The bait fish were probably golden shinners. When we electroshocked the lake about a year ago, we saw no signs of shad, but lots of golden shinners as well as bluegill and redear sunfish. The lake is currently bass light, as the fish kill from 2 years ago killed a large portion of the bass population. In the case of the fish kill, the larger bass were the most suseptable to the kill and thus were killed in larger numbers. But the forage base was not effected greatly, so the bass remaining are doing great and are reproducing like crazy. THERE ARE STILL LOTS OF NICE FISH IN THIS LAKE, and we expect the lake to be even better over the next couple of years as the heavy spawns of the last two springs will have produced lots of babies with lots to eat. They should grow fast and full expect most of these fish to be 2 to 4 pounds from 2014 forward.
