Booked a full-day and was on the water at about 0730. Water level seemed fine, maybe a bit low, but the recent rains really helped.
Water temp was about 81 degrees, water vis was about 14-16 inches.
Immediately picked up some small bass with crankbaits, and switched to jigs. Caught 24 really nice crappie in the next 2 hours. Mostly white and white with green tails. I was going to spend the entire day, but felt it was fair to the fish to let them have the afternoon off.
Not sure if the recent cold fronts and approaching cooler weather are getting the crappie into a heavy feeding schedule to prepare for winter. I also have concerns about over harvesting crappie. I trust y’all. I have more fun catching crappie than bass and hope it stays that way for me on at least some of my favorite lakes. Keep up the good work.
