Wife and I got a late start 8/9/13. Got our kayaks on the water a little after 7:00 and fished until 12 noon. Wind was out of the south at 10-12mph, light cloud cover with water temp 86 degrees. Water was low and stained with moderate vegitation/algae around the banks. Bank areas are fairly stable, but mud right off bank is DEEP (wife lost one of her Keens and had to go mining for it….FUNNY!)
Prior posts proved true; smaller fish were caught on south end and east bank. West bank housed the larger 2-4 lb. fish. Most were caught just on the edges of the vegitation. Best baits used were Speed Craws, River Bugs, and Baby Brush Hogs all watermelon/red or watermelon/candy. Another good one was Big Bite 5” Jerk Bait blue black herring color. Tried several top water, crank, and spinner baits with NO success.
Total fish caught was 20 bass.
