Three of us from Heritage Ranch G&CC fished Deer Trail May 23 and caught 52 bass and one crappie, 18 of which were harvested.  Bill Morris caught the big one at 5.6 lbs and averaged 3.0 for his best-5 fish.

Ron Samuels caught 14 with a 2.1 average for best 5 fish.  I caught 17 and averaged 2.6 for five fish.  Soft plastics in white, chartreuse and red were the hot baits.  However, the fish hit everything we threw at them, including Zoom Money Craw, shallow and medium diving KVD crank baits, buzz baits, worms, you name it.  It’s a fun lake and the owner has done an exceptional job of keeping the launch area clean.  They have spread gravel from the gate to the launch and turn-around and it shows they are proud of this facility.  We took our own jonboat and also used the Alumicraft which was provided.  Weather was mid to high 80s, overcast, wind 0-5 mph and water temp 76 degrees.
