Fingerling
My fishing partner and I caught 14 bass, largest 4.4 lbs. in the weeds next to the dam. Spinner baits and soft plastics were most effective. We harvested 6 bass that were 14 inches and smaller. Water temp. 78 degrees; air temp 91, winds 10-20 mph. It was windy on the main lake so we fished the timber most of the day in the two creek beds. This is NOT a lake for beginner fishermen, especially if you are fishing the creek beds. When you get a bass on the line, you have to get it on top of the water very quickly, or you’ll lose it to the timber because they instinctly dive for cover when hooked. It’s an interesting lake to find other fishermen’s lures. This trip produced a KVD 1.5 sexy shad crank bait and a propeller-less Zara Spook by Heddon. We left the black worm, probably a Senko, high up in a tree. On prior trips, we found buzz baits, crawdad medium divers and KVD’s. These lures are a clue as to what other fishermen are using. Whether or not they were successful is questionable.
