Fished JerMar with my dad from 1pm to 6pm Sunday.  Caught 6 and harvested 4 on plastic craws and brush hogs.  My scale gave up so no weight on the 2 over 14” (estimate 2.5-3).  Had a friendly conversation with the owner who offered some suggestions on locations and baits.

The wind was an issue and the cold was unexpected for May.  Had I been watching the changing weather more closely would have saved this trip for another day.  Given the conditions, a better approach might have been to tie on a jig and fish for one big bite.  My dad lost a nice fish that had his All Star heavy worm rod impressively doubled over.

Hooked one at Beaver pond that I did not land, but on an effort/reward basis I would recommend sticking to the main lake.

I’m a new member too Phil (also learned the hard way about scouring the weather reports).  Does the property look like a good place to tent camp?
I’m looking for a close place to take my son overnight.

Thanks!

Rob- I think tent camping would work fine.  The grass in the fields is high from the rains but I don’t think you would have any problem finding a spot to camp.  I like the lake and will definitely be back.

Thanks Phil!  I will break out the brushhogs & hit it within the next few weeks.  Will keep an eye on wind conditions, doesn’t look like a lot of tree cover there.
